Brake test and departure signal

The brake test signals can also be given by hand signals (not described here) or verbal order (directly or via radio).


			Depart (Abfahrt) § 28 (6) The departure signal is usually combined with a brake test signal or a main signal. But there are also combinations with other signals or there are standalone versions. Simple rule: if you see a green flashing light it is a departure signal.

hand signal (waving a white disk with green border or - at night - a green lamp)
verbal order »Abfahrt!« (»Depart!«)
on the EMUs type 4020 and 4030 the chief guard (conductor) gives two short buzz sounds in the driver's cabin by pressing a button near the door (by means of a special key). By the way, one sound means: close doors!
